The Lost Decade – Part IV
Well it was not exactly a lost decade for all investors, mainly those of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A). This is the firm run by legendary investor Warren Buffett; however, as with any investment this
past decade was not without periods of loss and underperformance. In 2009, shareholders of BRK.A gained just 2.7%, roughly 20% lower than the S&P 500 Index. In 2008, BRK.A did outperform the
S&P 500 Index, but the stock did lose 31% of its value – his worst year ever.
